WordCraft

WordCraft download: official files and installation

Choose the official storytold / ArtCraft WordCraft package for your computer. This independent guide links to upstream sources and does not host installers.

Release v0.6.1; assets checked 2026-10-13. Check current Releases before using a saved link.

Choose your operating system and CPU

Universal DMG supports Apple silicon and Intel. Windows: match x64 / ARM64; choose MSI to install or portable ZIP to extract. Linux: match x86_64 / aarch64, package format and runtime requirements. Other builds and checksums are on official Releases.

macOS

Open the verified DMG and follow its installation window. When it shows an Applications link, drag the app onto that link, then launch from Applications. Check any macOS warning against the release instructions.

Windows

For MSI, open the installer and follow its prompts. For portable ZIP, extract the archive into a folder you can write to, then open the app executable inside. A ZIP viewed without extraction is not an installed application.

Linux

For AppImage, give the downloaded file execute permission and launch it. For .deb / .rpm, use your distribution’s package installer. A Flatpak bundle can be installed with the command below; approve the runtime only after checking its source. Tarballs are for manual extraction. Check runtime and GPU requirements before launch.

flatpak install --user wordcraft-0.6.1-linux-x86_64.flatpak

Download and install

  1. Confirm storytold / the app name on GitHub, read release notes and choose from Assets. Source code is for building, not a ready-to-run installer.
  2. Match the system and CPU. When supplied, compare the file with SHA256SUMS.txt from the same release before opening. A matching checksum checks integrity, not overall software safety.
  3. Follow the official installation or extraction procedure. Keep system protections enabled. Start with a copy of a non-sensitive document and check the application version after launch.

If installation or launch fails

This is the storytold word processor, not a word game or a separate AI writing service. Its official README describes DirectX 12 and graphics-driver startup issues on Windows and a WGPU_BACKEND override for troubleshooting. Follow the matching release documentation rather than copying another app’s fix. Complex DOCX pagination and chart preservation still need checking.

For a missing file, return to current Releases. For an architecture error, check your CPU and package. For an OS warning, verify the source and release instructions. Stop if the checksum differs. Report the version, system and a non-sensitive error summary upstream. This site has not run these installers.
