ArtCraft Launcher not opening: logs and public reports

Where the official launcher README says to find the log, and which public GitHub reports mention a launcher that does not open or update. This site has not reproduced those failures.

We read the official notes on 2026-10-13. The steps below are checks you can try. We have not installed the app or reviewed it for safety.

Start from the official release file

Download ArtCraft Launcher only from the storytold/craft-launcher Releases page. The README says each release includes SHA256SUMS.txt. Match the file to the computer: Windows 10 or 11 uses an x64, arm64, or x86 msi, or a portable zip; macOS uses the universal dmg; Linux uses an AppImage, deb, or rpm. The README says the common Linux builds need glibc 2.35 or newer. A video or a look-alike download site is not that release.

Read the log the README names

The README says the launcher writes logs/artcraft-launcher.log in its data folder: ~/.local/share/artcraft-launcher on Linux, ~/Library/Application Support/ArtCraft Launcher on macOS, %LOCALAPPDATA%\ArtCraft Launcher on Windows, or ArtCraftLauncherData beside a portable zip. It keeps the two previous runs as artcraft-launcher.1.log and artcraft-launcher.2.log. This site has not opened those logs.

Public reports, not fixes from this site

On 2026-10-14 these GitHub issues were still open: #46, Windows not opening; #182, buttons not working and the launcher not auto-updating; #45, an app not closing on Ubuntu 26.04. They are other people’s reports. This site has not reproduced them and does not add steps that are not in the README.

When to stop

If the file name, checksum, or computer type does not match, do not run it. Do not turn off macOS or Windows protections because a page or video says to. If you only need one program, use that program’s own release from its download page. If the log does not match an open issue, stop and read the issue thread instead of trying random commands.
