LightCraft and Lightroom: what the project says
LightCraft’s README calls it an alpha, clean-room Lightroom-style raw developer. It also lists missing camera calibration and unfinished browser graphics checks. This site has not edited photos in either app.
We read the official notes on 2026-10-13. The steps below are checks you can try. We have not installed the app or reviewed it for safety.
What the README claims
LightCraft’s README calls it a photo library and raw developer, a clean-room reimplementation of Adobe Lightroom, written in Rust. It says adjustments are non-destructive and originals are not changed. It also says the app is alpha. That is the project’s description, not a test by this site.
Limits the project already lists
The README’s status table says DNG files use their own colour matrices, while a measured calibration database is missing. It says a WebAssembly build can run in the browser, and marks browser WebGPU plus Safari and Firefox testing as unfinished. It also documents a LightCraft MCP server. This page does not set that server up, and it does not compare Darktable.
When Lightroom still has the job
If you need a Lightroom catalog, a camera profile the README does not list, or a finished browser build, keep the working copy in Lightroom or another tool you already trust. Downloading LightCraft does not move a catalog across. Use the download page for the official v0.7.1 files recorded on 2026-10-13, then check Releases again.
